The Min Bed AluAlu. Twenty Years in the Making.
The Min Bed AluAlu is the minimal bed designed by Luciano Bertoncini and made in Italy. Its lightweight powder-coated aluminum frame, in white, black or Jaipur red, includes a wooden slatted base and assembles in minutes. It ships worldwide in a compact box, with shipping to the United States and Europe included in the price.
From the collaboration with Kristalia come the new upholstered headboards in Kvadrat fabric, which can also be added later to wooden headboards, offering a new upgrade option for happy DWR Min Bed owners. Classic Oak and Walnut headboards are still available. The Min Bed AluAlu comes in US Queen and King, and European 140×200, 160×200, and 180×200 cm. Twin and Full sizes are available on request.

1972
New York, MoMA — At the groundbreaking exhibition “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape”, which introduced Italian design to the world, Luciano Bertoncini completed the execution of Joe Colombo’s Total Furnishing Unit, following Colombo’s sudden passing the year before.
2001
New York — Rob Forbes, founder of Design Within Reach, meets Bertoncini and commissions him to design a bed that is minimal, lightweight, strong, and elegant. This is how the Min Bed is born — a long-seller in the US, featured in the DWR catalog for more than twenty years with the words “Simply Beautiful.”
2020
Luciano Bertoncini launches isOnAir to bring the Min Bed to Europe and beyond.
isOnAir becomes more than an e-commerce platform: it grows into a place to explore design, its history, and a curated selection of products designed, selected, or loved by Bertoncini.
2024
The Min Bed evolves. From the long-standing collaboration between Luciano Bertoncini and Kristalia comes the AluAlu family: new finishes, new accessories for the bed, and a full collection of outdoor sofas and loungers.
